lapinou-noir:

Oz was aware that his sister fancied someone, but that was to be expected of a girl her age, especially when she was surrounded by so many eligible young men who also attended Lutwidge. As to who that person was, Oz was, of course, curious, but they had never gotten around to talking about it considering everything that had happened during his visit there. It had not once crossed his mind that the boy Ada liked was more than a simple crush; she was dating him. Not only had that been going on for a few weeks, but her beau was none other than Vincent Nightray. Oz felt that he was obligated to feel the way he did right now after learning this information. At least she had been planning on telling him.

Oz opened his mouth to say something, but the words died on his tongue as she mentioned him rushing off after his best friend. “Oh.” was all he managed to get out. “Sorry for doing that by the way.” he apologised, flashing her a grin as he rubbed the back of his neck. Here he was fretting over his little sister chasing after boys, when he had essentially done the same thing (and quite literally at that) before she could even clue him in as to who was courting her.

“How did you two even meet?” he inquired, turning the subject back to Ada rather than his own escapades after his valet.

When Ada had sent the letter to their uncle that’d set everything off (meaning their impromptu trip to Lutwidge to visit Ada and interrogate her about the boy in question), Vincent had still been exactly what the letter implied: a boy she liked, but not an official suitor just yet. It wasn’t probably until a week or so later that the atmosphere between the Vessalius and the Nightray changed and their behavior around each other became more that of a legitimate couple versus that of two people showing an interest in each other. Vincent occasionally kissed her, she began addressing him in a more casual manner, and the frequency of his trips to Lutwidge to visit her increased in occurrence.

Ada smiled back at her brother when he grinned and apologized for too hastily concluding that his own servant had been the person Ada was interested in. But Oz’s attempt to divert the conversation back to Vincent was successful, and a small smile came to Ada’s lips at the memory, almost as if she were reminiscing about it as she gave him his answer.

It was a party being held by one of the benefactor’s of Lutwidge, to celebrate the coming of summer. And since Elliot attends too, his father came, and I’m assuming he made Vincent to go too, even though he’s apparently not too fond of social events. I’d never met Vincent before then, and even though Elliot doesn’t like me, I still wanted to be polite to Vincent since he’s a Nightray too. So I had us introduced, and he seemed interested enough when he learned who I was. After the party he sent me a letter asking if he could see me again, and after that he began coming to Lutwidge to spend time with me during term. He actually came to see me a few days before you and everyone surprised me by coming. That’s when he…..

And probably to Oz’s dismay, his sister trailed off with an expression that could probably be described as ‘dreamy’; now she’d really gotten caught up in the memory. She was much sweeter on her suitor than her brother probably yet realized.
